04 Mar RESEARCH STAY OF MAGDA PÉREZ
Magdalena Pérez greets us from the Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. She has been working there for three months, among other things, on the implementation of an MMB test, on the test of wood adhesive joints and on using accoustic emission to identify delamination. Her advisor there has been Dr. Andreas J. Brunner.
“I participated in the tool development for MMB test and I had the opportunity to participate in a test campaign of mode II 4ENF test of wood adhesive joints where we instrumented the specimens with acoustic emission sensors for the identification of delamination propagation under quasi-static and cyclic loads. Problems with loading set-up were identified by the acoustic emission analysis and solved.”
“The interesting discussions about the mode II experimental test results with Dr Andreas J. Brunner have been very profitable and will contribute to enrich the paper ‘Towards a consensus on mode II adhesive fracture testing typologies and data reduction methods: experimental study’.”

Global experience and culturalinterchange
“The people there were very friendly and helped me with all I needed.
Every day, at the same hour, we took the coffee with all the members of the group, thus promoting interenting discussions between the members.”
