Research stay of Prof. Peter Bischoff

Prof. Peter Bischoff, from the University of New Brunswick, in Canada, has been in a research visit with the AMADE Group during September and October 2019. Prof. Bischoff is widely recognized for his work on deflection calculation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and his visit has focussed on development of methodologies for assessing long-term deflection of RC structures.

Prof. Bischoff is a member of ACI Committees 224, Cracking; 360, Design of Slabs on Ground; 435, Deflection of Concrete Building Structures; 440, Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Reinforcement; and Joint ACI-ASCE Committee 408, Development and Splicing of Deformed Bars.  Among his most relevant work is the development of a new approach to calculate deflection of RC flexural members, known as the Bischoff equation, which has been adopted by the most recent versions of the ACI 318 Building Code for Steel RC members and ACI 440 Design Guide for FRP RC members.
