DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The demand to cut short the global CO2 emissions in the aeronautic sector is growing significantly and with the expected growth of air traffic, it is important to adopt a new breed of aircraft with decisive gains in performance to achieve the 2050 goals. The challenge for EU aeronautic industry is to timely deliver reliable and commercially viable disruptive aircraft concepts within the accepted levels of cost, risk and timeframe. Virtual prototyping has the biggest potential to tackle this challenge, by enabling technology across design, qualification, certification and eventually manufacturing.<\/p>\n

In this framework, CAELESTIS will develop a novel, secure, end-to-end interoperable simulation ecosystem that will perform multidirectional dataflow across the aircraft value chain linking product design and distributed engineering teams\u00b4 CAD-CAE tools, to accelerate the design and engineering optimization of disruptive aircraft and engine configurations, ensuring their manufacturability from the design conceptualization. CAELESTIS main objective is to enable the EU aircraft industry to design and manufacture disruptive aircraft structures and engines with enhanced prediction capacities (product performance and manufacturability), to widen the design space and reduce the uncertainties potentially encountered along the product and engineering lifecycle, which are currently limiting their introduction into service. The main pillars of CAELESTIC will work on (a) Interoperability of Distributed Engineering Teams & HPC based on Industry 4.0 standards; (b) Integrated product and process optimization accounting for effects of defects; (c) Uncertainty quantification and management across the design and manufacturing stages towards rapid product qualification; (d) Generative structural design linking manufacturing process to property uncertainties and predictions; (e) Smart manufacturing supported by defects propagation and performance predictions. These pillars will constitute to 9 work packages defined in the project with a total time span of 42 months. The consortium is made up of 11 partners from 8 European countries whose expertise is divided in i) mechanical performance modelling and simulation; ii) manufacturing process modelling and simulation; iii) systems interoperability, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity iv) smart and adaptive manufacturing systems for composites and multimaterials components.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=\u00bb\u00bb row_type=\u00bbrow\u00bb use_row_as_full_screen_section=\u00bbno\u00bb type=\u00bbfull_width\u00bb angled_section=\u00bbno\u00bb text_align=\u00bbleft\u00bb background_image_as_pattern=\u00bbwithout_pattern\u00bb][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
