He shares this recognition with <strong>Dr. Pedro Ponces Camanho<\/strong> from the University of Porto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony took place on December 6, 2024, at the \u201c<em>Salles des Illustres<\/em>\u201d de<em> l`H\u00f4tel de Ville<\/em> in Toulouse, during the Aeronautical &amp; Space Distinctions of the Air and Space Academy 2024. Each year, the Academy awards medals to individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to these fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Albert Turon Travessa is a senior researcher at AMADE and professor in Mechanics of Continuum Media and Theory of Structures at UdG. His research focuses on the mechanical behavior of high-performance composites and bonded joints, aiming to advance non-deterministic modeling approaches. These innovations seek to revolutionize the development of new structural elements by reducing time to market, enabling innovative design concepts, and contributing to reduced fuel emissions in the transport industry through efficient material use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"659\" height=\"876\" src=\"https:\/\/amade.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-12-08-at-12.00.33-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17410\" style=\"width:430px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amade.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-12-08-at-12.00.33-4.jpeg 659w, https:\/\/amade.udg.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-12-08-at-12.00.33-4-226x300.jpeg 226w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He holds a European PhD from the University of Girona (2006), served as a Postdoc Researcher at the University of Porto (Portugal), and as a visiting researcher at NASA Langley Center (USA) and at Aalborg University (Denmark). He is currently a member of the council of European Society for Composite Materials and serves as member of editorial board of Composites Part B. He is author of more than 100 papers published in top-ranked international journals. He is ranked in the \u201cWorld\u2019s Top 2% Scientists ranking\u201d published by Stanford University, in the \u201cBest Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Scientists\u201d list from <em>research.com<\/em>, &nbsp;and has received the ICREA ACAD\u00c8MIA award (2022).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Turon actively engages in technology transfer projects with leading international companies, particularly in the aeronautics sector. He is also deeply involved in education, contributing to the Master\u2019s program in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mastermms.udg.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/mastermms.udg.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mechanics of Materials and Structures (MMS)<\/a><\/strong> and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/msc-frp.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/msc-frp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Erasmus Mundus Master FRP++<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Albert Turon Travesa, researcher at the Analysis and Advanced Materials for Structural Design (AMADE) at the University of Girona (UdG), has been honored with the Academic Medal by the Air and Space Academy in France.
