05 Dic EMJM FRP++ Integration Week 2025 at the University of Girona
Within the framework of the EMJM “Advanced Structural Analysis and Design using Composite Materials”, FRP++, this year, the Integration Week was organized by the University of Girona, taking place from 24 to 28 November 2025. The program was designed to provide a combination of academic, technical, and cultural experiences for 20 EMJM FRP++ students and the FRP++ board and staff members.
During the week, FRP++ students defended Assignment 1 of unit FRP++ 6. Additionally, participants visited leading industrial companies, including Menzolit in Granollers and Compoxi, located at the University of Girona’s Science and Technology Park. These practical activities were complemented by theoretical sessions and a visit to the AMADE-UdG laboratories, allowing students to engage with cutting-edge research in mechanics, materials, and structures.
The final day featured two keynote lectures delivered by distinguished experts in the field of composite materials, offering exclusive insights into current topics and future trends. Dr. Iryna Tretiak from the University of Bristol presented the lecture “Transforming Composite Manufacturing Using AI”, while Dr. Paolo Carraro from the University of Padova delivered the talk “Fatigue Damage in Composite Materials: Observations and Modelling Approaches.”
In addition to the academic and technical program, the week included social events, such as a formal dinner with all students, professors and staff members, and a guided tour of Girona’s historic city center, allowing participants to explore the city’s rich heritage and unique charm.
The organizing committee, which made this week possible, included: Cristina Barris (UdG), Bruno Castanié (INSA/UT), Luís Correia (UMinho), Marco Di Ludovico (UNINA), José Sena-Cruz (UMinho), and Andrea Prota (UNINA).
