28 May AMADE, the University of Girona and Eurecat launch a joint research unit in composite materials
The Universitat de Girona and Eurecat have launched a joint research unit in composite materials aimed at strengthening applied research, fostering technological innovation and accelerating knowledge transfer to industry.
The initiative consolidates the existing collaboration between the research group AMADE – Universitat de Girona and Eurecat, creating a new framework for the development of advanced composite material solutions with direct industrial applications.
The new unit will be located at the Research and Innovation Park of the University of Girona and will focus on the development of lighter, stronger and more sustainable materials and manufacturing technologies. Its research activity will address the needs of strategic industrial sectors including automotive, aeronautics, energy and healthcare.
The collaboration aims to strengthen the synergies between academic research and applied innovation, while promoting the transfer of advanced technologies and scientific knowledge to the productive sector. In addition, the initiative reinforces Girona’s positioning as a reference hub in advanced engineering and composite materials research.
The agreement was formally signed by the rector of the University of Girona, Josep Calbó Angrill, and the general director of Eurecat, Xavier López Luján. The project includes an initial joint investment of €800,000 dedicated to the development of research infrastructure and advanced technological capabilities.
Through this new joint research unit, AMADE further strengthens its commitment to high-impact research connected to current industrial challenges and focused on generating scientific, technological and socio-economic value for society and the region.
